The county’s expected to go after federal transportation grants to pay for the widening of River Road. The Herald-Tribune reports a $90-million plan to widen the road has ben around for years, but the problem’s always been paying for it. Now, the county’s going after funding for work on individual sections of River Road. Parts of River Road have no lighting or shoulders, other parts have drainage issues, and is used by a lot of semi’s as a shortcut to I-75. It’s considered one of the most dangerous roads statewide. The county’s going after a grant to start on the stretch between U.S. 41 and West Villages Parkway.
