If you feel like you’re paying higher property taxes than folks in other areas of Florida, you may be right. A new study by a non-profit group called Florida TaxWatch reveals that property taxes for Southwest Florida coastal counties are higher than the state average. The study found that urban counties with more robust inventories of taxable property ranked higher on the list. Number one on that list: Sarasota County, while more rural areas like DeSoto County ranked near the bottom.
