Everyone wants to be listened to when they speak, and especially when they’re speaking to someone who can facilitate change.

They voiced their opinions at a series of five meetings to let Sarasota County officials know what they wanted — and didn’t want in a county administrator. They said now that Jim Ley is gone, they want someone who will listen to what they say: about the changes that need to be made to better Sarasota County. Those who attended any one or more of the five meetings said they wanted open communication with the person who will administer Sarasota County. They with Ley, the door was closed, and that nothing was getting done. They now want to make sure that the next Sarasota County administrator listens, keeps the door open and answers to those the people elected, who hire the administrator.
