The Sarasota County Commission has awarded contracts for nearly 12 million dollars of work in Veince and the Gulf Gate area:

Superior Asphalt, Inc. of Bradenton was awarded the $3 million contract for milling and resurfacing approximately 36 lane miles of roadways in several areas of the county, particularly the Gulf Gate area in Sarasota, and in the city of Venice. Resurfacing is expected to begin next month and be done by December. The repaving of Harbor Drive in Venice is scheduled to be completed before a triathlon event on Oct. 27-28.

Woodruff and Sons, Inc. of Bradenton was awarded a nearly 9-million dollar contract for the River Road and U.S. 41 intersection improvement project. The work includes reconstructing River Road from a two-lane to a four-lane roadway south of U.S. 41 and to six lanes north of U.S. 41, with widening of U.S. 41 for the receiving lanes. Work will take a year, starting next month.
