City leaders in Punta Gorda are proposing a property tax increase. If approved, the millage rate would go from two-point-seven to three-point-two mils; that’s about seventy-five bucks a year more for a 150-thousand-dollar property. Punta Gorda city leaders say they’ve slashed the budget as much as they can and now can only look at ways to increase revenue, such as the proposed property tax hike.
