Taking a hard look at hard water. The Punta Gorda City Council is considering reviving a plan that was shelved several years ago for the city to treat water with reverse osmosis. Punta Gorda water currently exceeds state standards for salts and minerals. The concern is over how to make the water in Shell Creek, which is Punta Gorda’s primary water supply, more pure. The Council last night voted to ask its utilities advisory board to re-visit a 28-million-dollar reverse osmosis proposal for consideration in September.
