An off-duty sheriff’s deputies happens across three men stealing scrap metal in broad daylight. The unidentified deputy went to Curry Moving and Storage in Port Charlotte to pick up some items he had stored there. According to a crime report, the deputy saw three men, one of them an employee of the business, acting suspiciously as they loaded scrap metal into a truck. The deputy spoke with the business owner and confirmed that shouldn’t be happening, and the deputy parked his personal vehicle across the business driveway so the truck and men could not leave. All three are charged with petty theft.
