Sarasota and Charlotte county beaches have been seeing some odd debris wash up over the past few days. Sarasota County environmental officials tell WFLA-TV that the items are pipe wraps used in the oil and gas industries. About a dozen pieces of the wraps have washed ashore. The Coast Guard has been contacted to see what should be done with the recovered materials. Officials say that the items are not toxic or hazardous in any way. Anyone finding the debris should contact the county.
