The next session of the Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) will be starting soon and there are still a few seats available.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office next CPA class will be starting on Tuesday July 30. This class will be held at the Englewood-Cape Haze Area Chamber of Commerce located at 601 S. Indiana Avenue in Englewood.
The CPA is an 8 week program that meets one day each week and is designed to give the class members a working knowledge of the Sheriff’s Office. The comprehensive instruction covers topics areas such as Homicide Investigation, Use of Force, SWAT and Forensics. Class members will also be introduced to Sheriff Bill Prummell and many members of the Sheriff’s Office Command Staff. The instruction consists of lectures, demonstrations, tours and riding with a deputy on a 12-hour shift.
Anyone interested in attending can go to www.ccso.org/PublicInterest/cpaApplication.cfm to fill out and submit an application. Participation in the class is free to the public, but you must have submitted an application and be approved prior to attending.
The classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6 – 9 pm. The class ends on September 17.
