We’ve reported a lot of stories about thieve fencing stolen property and ripping off copper and other metal. Now, Sarasota County Commissioners are looking at ways to step up the regulation of places that buy those items. The Commission holding public hearings today on stricter rules for those who try to sell metal or second-hand items. Those rules would include producing receipts proving original ownership of items like jewelry that might be offered to pawn brokers or jewelry stores. Additional rules would be placed on scrap metal transactions, too.
