Mote Marine Laboratory will release a rehabilitated dolphin this week. Darrell Moody has the story…

Volunteers with Mote’s Sea Turtle Patrol found Edna, the bottlenose dolphin stranded on Longboat Key back June 6. A team from the Sarasota Dolphin Research Program brought Edna to Mote’s dolphin and Whale Hospital where the 3-year-old female was nursed back to health. Edna was treated for severe pneumonia and is now healthy enough to go back into the Gulf of Mexico. Scientists will release Edna back to the wild on Tuesday. The dolphin will be transported aboard a Mote Marine Laboratory vessel and released a few miles off shore.
