They were burning copper wire in the woods. Two Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies investigating a column of smoke rising from a wooded area off Kellett Avenue say they found two men who were burning the insulation off a quantity of copper wire. The men, who both proved to have criminal records, told the deputies they didn’t know where the wire came from. Both were arrested. The origin of that copper wire still being investigated.
