The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 41-year-old Venice woman early Tuesday morning. Erika Fortner was crossing U.S. 41 south of Montgomery Avenue in Manatee County when a car plowed into her and the driver kept going. She died at Blake Medical Center. The car was described as a maroon passenger vehicle, possibly a hatchback. The driver’s side outside mirror was found at the scene.
