The Charlotte County Sheriff’s office says a man has been arrested for siccing his dog on a deputy. 48-year old Phillip James Tenk was arrested after deputies were alerted to vandalism that had occurred at a home on Nimrod Street in Port Charlotte. A neighbor reported the tires slashed on a pickup outside a home he’d been monitoring. He confronted a man leaving the area, and the man ran off. A deputy recognized Ten’s description when it was radioed to law enforcement, and went to his home. When the Deputy arrived, he was met by Tenk and a pit bull. The deputy heard Tenk sic the dog on him, and as the dog ran at him the deputy drew his weapon and told Tenk to call back the dog or he would shoot it. Tenk complied and is now held in the Charlotte County Jail.
