The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a home invasion suspect who deputies found hiding in the shadows just minutes after the crime.

Occupants of a home on Horizon Road in Venice saw the suspect on a surveillance camera positioned near the rear door around 11 p.m. last night. One of the victims thought the suspect had left and went outside to investigate. He was confronted by the suspect who pointed a gun at him.

The suspect forced the victim at gunpoint to the front of the home and through the open garage and ordered the victim to open a safe located in a bedroom. When the attempts were unsuccessful, the suspect fled the area.

Deputies responded to the scene and found the suspect hiding in the yard of a nearby house just six minutes after the incident occurred.

Rondell Taylor, DOB 03/07/1988, no known permanent address, was arrested and charged with Home Invasion Robbery With A Firearm.
