A Sarasota man charged with attempted murder after a fight with his girlfriend got out of hand. Investigators say 64-year-old John Smith, Junior, was arguing with his girlfriend at the Mobile Estates mobile home park in the two thousand block of Champion Street. The woman says Smith produced a gun and said he was going to kill both of them. He then fired as she left the house. Neighbors called 9-1-1 and deputies said they saw Smith with a gun in his hand when they arrived. They persuaded him to put it down and were able to arrest him without further incident. The woman wasn’t hurt.
