A wrongful death lawsuit brought against Charlotte County by the family of a murdered woman has now been settled…

21-year-old Denise Lee was kidnapped, raped and murdered in January, 2008. A passing motorist saw Lee screaming in the back of a car driven by Michael King, who’s now imprisoned for the crimes, and called 9-1-1. The suit by Lee’s husband, Nathan, claimed emergency dispatchers and sheriff’s watch commanders mishandled the call and could have saved Lee. The family has now decided to accept a 1.25-million-dollar settlement of the case. Lee says he and the couple’s two boys, who are just starting school, are trying to move on with their lives.
