If you have ever been in Laishley Park after a rain, you know how bad the water problem can get. Now, the City of Punta Gorda is going to do something about it.

The Englewood Sun reports the project will cover half of Laishley Park’s 7 acres. Workers will remove the existing landscape and install an irrigation system two-and-a-half feet below the surface. Next, workers will put down layers of sand and stone that will help evacuate any standing water to a nearby pond. Finally, new bermuda grass will be laid on top. The project begins in mid-July and should be completed in September. Total cost for the project, $350 thousand dollars.
