Law enforcement agencies working through the night tonight to try to nail impaired drivers before they can harm themselves and others. Local officers, sheriff’s deputies and state troopers are patrolling the highways and major traffic spots throughout the Sun Coast. A few special checkpoints are also operating, in which all vehicles are stopped and officers make checks to see if anyone has been, shall we say, over-served. The end of Labor Day Weekend is typically marred by accidents and some fatalities as drivers who shouldn’t take the wheel try to make it home from the last long holiday of summer.
