A juvenile is back in custody after a short escape.
Sarasota County law enforcement said 17 year old Everett Williams escaped custody yesterday afternoon as he was being processed at the Juvenile Assessment Center located at the Sarasota County Jail. Officials said Jail Control Room Specialist improperly allowed Willimas’ exit around 2 p.m. as the juvenile was waiting to be taken to the Manatee Regional Juvenile Detention Center. He had been sentenced to five days for indirect criminal contempt after violating a prior home detention order. Deputies found Williams near his home and again took him into custody without incident, within 90 minutes of his escape.
