Governor Rick Scott’s mother has died. Esther Scott died in her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri Tuesday. She had been hospitalized since last month with an infection. Esther Scott was introduced to Floridians as part of Scott’s maverick bid for governor in 2010. She appeared in campaign commercials touting her son as a “good boy” at a time when he was under attack by political rivals. The state Republican Party used her in another television ad in 2011 where she said her son had “made me proud” and that he was keeping his campaign promises. Esther Scott was 84.
