She thought she’d use a taxicab as a getaway car but that backfired in a big way. Police say 32-year-old Cynthia Sheik arrived at a Race Trac store on Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte in a cab and intended to get away in the taxi following the robbery. Instead, the cabbie got suspicious and flagged down a passing Punta Gorda police officer. When Sheik ran out of the store, she found the cop waiting for her at her instead. Reports say she had stolen just over three hundred dollars.
