A Bonita Springs firefighter was killed Sunday in a hunting accident near the Charlotte county line. He’s been identified as Captain Paul Phillips, a training officer for Bonita Springs Fire Control & Rescue.
Charlotte County Fire & EMS spokeswoman Dee Hawkins said on Sunday that Phillips was hunting with his son when he fell out of a tree stand.
Phillips was set to retire at the end of the month. His retirement party was held last Friday.
The Fort Myers Fire Academy posted to Facebook Monday mourning his death.
