A fire last night temporarily displaced residents of a Siesta Key apartment complex. The Sarasota County Fire Department extinguished a fire in unit 202 of the central property at Peppertree Bay just after 6:30 p.m. But smoke lingered on the second, third, and fourth floors more than two hours afterward. Firefighters evacuated residents and tenants that could be safely transported to the Siesta Key property’s clubhouse while they secured the building.
