The Sarasota County Schools Superintendent says a bus driver who abandoned a three-year-old boy on her bus should be fired. Last month, WENG News reported the story of the boy, who didn’t get dropped off at Toledo Blade Elementary School in North Port and sat strapped in his seat for two hours before being noticed. The sixty-year-old driver reported she pulled to the side of the road with a flat tire, waited while a repair crew arrived to fix it, then drove to the school bus depot — all with the boy still unnoticed in the back of the bus. The child was note harmed but now Superintendent says the bus driver should be fired. She’s recommending the School Board do just that at its meeting October 18th.
