Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Punta Gorda man Monday for domestic violence to his girlfriend. Albert Lee Thomas remains in the Charlotte County Jail with no bond due to being a convicted felon with an extensive criminal history; this is his 12th booking. Deputies say the violence started when Thomas wanted sex and the woman refused. They say he strangled her, stepped on her chest, stabbed a mattress with a knife twice, tied her up with shoestrings, and locked her in the house. They were called by an ER nurse after she escaped.
