It’s been a week since Debby departed the area, and damage assessments continue while cleanup work is progressing. Sarasota County on Tuesday met with 50-plus Manasota Key residents and other property owners at the Englewood Recreation Center to discuss how the county will help expedite repairs of damages from the storm. Four homes, three of which are on Manasota Key, were compromised by Debby’s storm surge and beach erosion. The tropical storm also eroded nearly 30 feet of Turtle Beach, leaving just half of the sediment placed in 2008 during a $10 million nourishment project. Siesta Key public beach was spared.
