The F-A-A now says that small plane that crashed in the Gulf yesterday was on a flight to Sarasota. The twin-engined plane was discovered circling but not apparently under normal control and fighters were sent to observe it. They couldn’t make contact with the pilot, who finally managed to put the plane down in the water. It floated for a time, then sank. F-A-A records says that flight was bound to Sarasota from Slidell, Louisiana. The pilot now tentatively identified as a Louisiana doctor.
