A Sarasota Police officer, a Sarasota County sheriff’s deputy and a K-9 unit teamed up to arrest a suspect who had $6,000 in cash and 5 to 6-pounds of pot in his car. The arrest was made during a traffic stop at 17th Street and U.S. 301 last week. 35-year-old Darryl Brookins of Bradenton, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He was released on $1500 bond. Investigators tell the Sarasota Patch they believe Brookins may also be on federal probation for prior narcotics offenses.
