We’ve reported a number of stories about scrap metal thieves disrupting people’s live in recent weeks. Now, it’s their phones. Century Link confirming the someone accessed a utility phone box over the weekend and stole its copper wiring. Result? Around a hundred customers in Port Charlotte were without phone service for some time. Some phone customers in an area south of Hillsborough Blvd., north of Veterans Blvd. east of Theresa Blvd., and west of Atwater Street are still without service today. The phone company says it hopes to have everyone back online by tomorrow.
