Sarasota County Commission Chair Carolyn Mason will be guest speaker at a free neighborhood expo being held by the Nokomis Area Civic Association (NACA) and Sarasota County government on Saturday, June 22. The expo will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Venice Community Center, 326 S. Nokomis Ave., Venice, and is open to the public.

A continental breakfast will be served, and workshops will be offered throughout the event. Admission is free, but registration is required by June 21.

After opening remarks from Commission Chair Mason, Emergency Management Chief Ed McCrane will have tips on hurricane preparation and hurricane guides for participants. Sarasota County’s Sustainability team will host a workshop on energy efficiency, where residents can get a free Do-It-Yourself Energy Saving Kit with products valued at more than $30.

Other workshops include “Robert’s Rules of Order” and “Connecting with Local Government.” County staff from Neighborhood Services, Solid Waste, Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) and the Sheriff’s Office will share tips and recommendations for protecting and preserving Sarasota County neighborhoods.
