A civil suit against the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office will be heard this week, a new chapter in the abduction, rape and murder of a Punta Gorda mom in 2008. The suit, brought by Nathan Lee, seeks more than 750-thousand-dollars in damages for wrongful death and negligence in the death of his wife, Amber. She was abducted and murdered by Michael King, who was subsequently convicted and is now on death row. Lee’s suit alleges a string of missteps by sheriff’s commanders, officers and dispatchers and claims King and his victim could have been apprehended before Amber was killed.
