Charlotte County could be in for a speed boost, courtesy of Super Boat International Races. SBI stages an event in Key West, and the Charlotte County Commission voted today to spend $10,000 for a deposit to SBI to have them check out two locations, Charlotte Harbor and Englewood Beach, as potential sites for their races. SBI’s Gerry York’s part of a new county committee formed to attract the power boat racers here. The idea’s for a 4-day event that could bring over 80,000 people and their money to Charlotte County. If all goes well, the goal for a Super Boat race is April of next year.
