(ENGLEWOOD) Charlotte County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit detectives arrested an Englewood East man in two undercover operations late Tuesday for selling them a stolen boat motor, and an hour he selling them Oxycodone pills.

Wednesday at 9:25 p.m. Steven Craig Kasten, 25, 41 French Ave., sold narcotics detectives a stolen boat motor in the parking lot of Burger King, 12531 South McCall Road, Englewood East. The boat motor was valued at $1,733; he sold it for $300.

At 10:30 p.m. Kasten sold Oxycodone pills to an undercover narcotics detective in McDonald’s parking lot, 1250 S. McCall Road, Englewood. He was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Criminal Investigation detectives were called to further investigate the boat motor purchase which they learned was stolen off a 14 foot johnboat at 8293 Burwell Circle in South Gulf Cove. Detectives continue investigating several boat motors stolen recently; Kasten is a suspect.

CI detectives met with Kasten at the Charlotte County Jail Wednesday to discuss the stolen boat motor, but he invoked his Miranda rights and only stated he was going to prison anyway so why should he snitch on himself.

Kasten, a convicted felon with 24 records, at this time is charged with Dealing in Stolen Property and Grand Theft, Sale and Delivery of Oxycodone, Possession of Oxycodone, and six counts of Violation of Probation. He is being held on $70,000 bond.
