(ENGLEWOOD) Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Englewood man on possession of marijuana, ammunition, and weapons charges after he reported a woman in the home was unresponsive and died at Englewood Community Hospital.

CCSO received a medical call around 3:30 p.m. Saturday to 2120 S. McCall Road; deputies and Charlotte County Fire/EMS responded. Tawni Lynn Blair, 20, was transported to the hospital; she was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m. Major Crimes and Crime Scene were called to the home.

Raul Gonzales Garcia, 61, gave permission to search his home. In Garcia’s bedroom, detectives found four baggies of marijuana, a .44 caliber handgun, three boxes of shotgun shells, a holder with ten 30/30 bullets, a box of .22 caliber bullets and a container with .32 caliber bullets.

Garcia was arrested for Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; he was then transported to the Charlotte County Jail. He remains in jail without bond being a convicted felon and currently on supervised release.

MCU detectives said the death of Blair suggested a drug overdose; however, the Medical Examiner will have to determine exact cause of death. No further details are being released at this time on the death investigation.
