(PORT CHARLOTTE) The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Monday at 6:58 p.m. to Hillsborough Blvd. and Eva St. in Port Charlotte in reference to a report of a female in distress on the side of the roadway.

The victim told Major Crimes Unit detectives she was traveling southbound on Hillsborough Blvd. in her 2004 Black Nissan Armada when she noticed she was being tailgated by a small dark passenger car. The victim pulled over to let the car pass and the vehicle pulled in front of hers on the shoulder of the road. Two Hispanic males got out of the vehicle, approached the victim, and removed her from her car.

The victim said she struggled with the men and that during the struggle most of her clothing was ripped from her body. The victim indicated that the men struck her several times before they left in an unknown direction. The victim stated she had never seen these subjects before, however, details obtained from her suggest the men knew her and this was not a random act of violence, nor was it sexually motivated.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released. A BOLO was issued for the vehicle, a dark colored, possibly green, small passenger car. The two suspects were described as Hispanic males in their twenties; one had short dark hair, the other had longer dark hair.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s office is requesting any information about this crime, especially from someone who may have been traveling on Hillsborough Blvd. between 6:30-7:00 pm. Monday, to call CCSO at 941-639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
