(PORT CHARLOTTE) Charlotte County Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives arrested a North Port man in connection with a drive-by shooting into a Port Charlotte home.

CCSO received a call Tuesday at 12:36 a.m. after six shots struck the home at 12623 Chancellor Boulevard; four people were inside but no one was hurt. It was reported a dark colored pickup was seen driving by the house at the time of the shooting.

An alert was issued and a deputy responding to the scene saw a speeding dark colored Ford pickup on Chancellor Blvd. The deputy made a U-turn and conducted a traffic stop at Doral Ave. and Hutchins Street. The driver was identified as Jacob John Alderman, 20, 5336 Kenwood Dr., North Port. Deputies found two 9mm handguns and three expended 9mm bullet casings inside the pickup.

Crime Scene collected four expended shell casings found on the roadway in front of the home, plus the three shell casings and two handguns located in the pickup. The evidence was taken to the CCSO Crime Scene lab for analysis. The Crime Scene supervisor late Tuesday stated all rounds collected were fired from the same weapon found in Alderman’s pickup.

Alderman was charged with Shooting of a Deadly Missile into an Occupied Building, and Possession of a Concealed Weapon. He remains in the Charlotte County Jail on no bond as the investigation continues.
