Accreditation means the department meets a number of professional standards set by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. A public hearing the evening of January 24th will give you the opporunity to comment on whether the department is meeting those standards.
