A bomb scare at Sarasota police headquarters this afternoon. Police say the building was evacuated and the bomb squad called in after a man showed up with what was believed to be a live hand grenade. Officers say the grenade was sitting on top of the man’s Jeep parked outside the building a little after two o’clock. They say the man told them he had found the grenade on his property and was bringing it in to be disposed of. Officers evacuating the main police headquarters building as well as several nearby streets. The bomb squad was called in a little after four to disarm the grenade with a robotic device. There was no explosion and no one was injured. More details later as they become available.
