Sarasota County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a hit and run that killed a bicyclist early this morning. Their report indicates that 31 year old Daryl Jochem of Sarasota was riding his bike with his dog in tow at Swift Road and Austin Street when a vehicle hit the bicycle. Deputies said the bike did not lights front and rear and the unknown driver didn’t see Jochem riding his bike, hit the bike and left the scene. They said the vehicle is a newer model metallic red or maroon car with front end damage.
Deputies also said Jochem was not wearing a helmet.
