A beach water advisory has been issued for Turtle Beach. Sarasota County Health Department officials received testing results from beach water samples taken on Wednesday that show an elevated level of enterococci bacteria. Repeat testing is scheduled today, with the results known tomorrow afternoon. Until then at least, signs are posted telling beach-goers of the advisory. Sarasota county officials say there is no connection between the advisory and the recent red algae bloom.
