The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted bank robbery at Wells Fargo, 8595 South Tamiami Trail, in Sarasota today.
The suspect walked into the branch at 12:42 p.m., showed the teller the butt of a black handgun and pointed to the cash drawer. He apparently got nervous and fled the bank, heading westbound on foot across US 41 toward the CVS store there.
The suspect is 5’11” tall, approximately 160 pounds, slim build and pale skin. It appears he recently dyed his hair a whitish-blonde color. The suspect also wore black wraparound mirrored sunglasses, a faded denim jacket and light colored jeans.
