Trying again in Longboat Key. Town leaders will hold the first of two public meetings tomorrow to look over plans for a proposed new recreation project at Bayfront Park. The plans call for a new 15-thousand-square-foot community center, a fishing pier, dock, kayak launch area, dog park, self-guided walkway through mangroves, a picnic pavilion, rebuilt playground, a multi-use athletic field and other amenities. Seven years ago, Longboat Key residents overwhelmingly rejected a more restricted plan for Bayfront Park. Now, town officials think they have enough support to try it again.
