On Saturday, August 28, deputies will be participating in the Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s National ‘Saturation Saturday’ campaign taking a collaborative approach to road safety. During this campaign, deputies will be highly focused on areas where impaired driving has been statistically prevalent and include increased DUI patrols and other enforcement efforts aimed at preventing impaired driving and catching those who make the wrong choice.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, even during the pandemic, drunk driving fatalities increased 9% despite fewer vehicle miles traveled.

Locally, we saw 283 DUI arrests in 2020 and 223 arrests so far in 2021.

“We are eager to support Mother’s Against Drunk Driving and their efforts to eliminate impaired driving during the third Nationwide Saturation Saturday. I encourage everyone to plan ahead for a ride home. There is never an excuse to drink and drive.”
