North Port City Clerk Kathryn Wong has resigned.

The Herald-Tribune says Wong, who has been out on maternity leave, sent the City Commission a letter of resignation dated Sept. 11, citing medical reasons.

She was named city clerk last October, but had served as interim city clerk since August of 2018. She had been with the city for around three years.

Heather Taylor, who was hired as deputy city clerk in January, will likely assume duties as interim city clerk.
