The State Attorney’s Office held a news conference earlier today announcing the arrest of two men accused of racketeering and stealing money from more than two dozen victims. Joseph Charde and Allen Duquet are facing dozens of felony charges, accused of masterminding a Ponzi scheme that led to $6 million being stolen from 26 people. The investigation started with one victim in Charlotte County. The victim was selling property to the new Sunseeker Resort and used Duquet for a real estate transaction. The victim gave money to Duquet to purchase properties to build the resort. The victim filed a complaint to the State Attorney Attorney’s Office and investigators discovered more victims.
