America’s first-ever, all-solar powered town celebrated its grand opening on Saturday. Babcock Ranch in Charlotte County was the brainchild of owner Syd Kitson. Over the weekend, he and FPL officials unveiled a solar facility that stories and produces enough electricity to power 15,000 homes per day. Around 100 people own homes in Babcock Ranch- Kitson expects that number to double by the end of the year. He calls his creation “the most sustainable, the most environmentally responsible, new town that’s ever been created.”
