Sarasota County commissioners have asked interim County Administrator Thomas Harmer to take the job of County Administrator permanently. The Herald-Tribune reports Harmer was the deputy county administrator, before the dismissal of former Administrator Randall Reid. County Attorney Stephen DeMarsh has been asked to work with Harmer to draw up a contract.

Medical marijuana appears on Florida’s November ballot. State Supreme Court has approved this measure in spite of objections from Attorney General Pam Bondi. Meanwhile, attorney general candidate George Sheldon calls the ruling a victory for Floridians. Bondi simply says the ruling leaves the issue of medical marijuana in the hands of Florida voters.
