A North Port woman has been charged with animal cruelty after 19 dogs were found in a makeshift kennel without food or water. Deputies were sent to the home of 53-year old Amy Lovering after getting reports of abandoned dogs at the home. Once there, deputies found the dogs ranged from 4 weeks to 16 years old, having been exposed to the cold and deprived of food and water. The dogs also had overgrown fur and nails, were infested with fleas and suffering from internal parasites. Lovering, who has two prior arrests in Tennessee for animal cruelty, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and a single count of confinement without food or water. She remains in custody without bond.
