Sarasota County has a new phone application that may help residents of the Suncoast when they least expect it. The application is called Pulse Point and it can help those who may be in need of CPR. The application notifies its users who are certified to perform CPR if they are within a quarter-mile of someone who may need the service. Alerts will go through the application and emergency personnel will receive the same message. It is designed to also locate the nearest life-saving equipment, such as defibrillators. Manatee County has already started using the technology.
